The Photographer
I’ve been a professional photographer since 2014. That’s when I officially opened up my business although I had been taking photos of products for a handful of years before that for a business I started making hair accessories and jewelry. I wasn’t very good then but it did teach me to be a better photographer and lead me to the love of photography. I started my photography business with weddings as my end goal. When I first started my business I knew absolutely no one in the tiny small town of 10,000 people and a super Walmart that I moved to in the middle of Arkansas. I was halfway between Little Rock and Northwest Arkansas (Fayetteville/Bentonville area). Where I lived the area didn’t have a ton of wedding venues and I knew that what I really wanted for my life, the vision of doing 20-30 weddings a year and sustaining myself my market wouldn’t be the town I was living in. So I focused my marketing towards the larger cities in my state.
To start my business though…I focused on families, seniors, children and so on to at least build up my skills and then I added in weddings by doing small elopements and styled wedding shoots. My first year really photographing weddings (2015) I photographed 29 weddings and the rest is history. I’ve been solely a wedding photographer since 2016 and I haven’t looked back.
This year, 2026, I’m opening my schedule to photograph families again now that I live in Dallas and have better areas to photograph families and easier access to meet families. I used to drive 1.5-2 hours to photograph everything in Arkansas. Now I don’t have to do that!! So I’m opening up my schedule for more and I'm really excited for this new chapter. Wedding photography has taught me so much about photography itself and I’m looking forward to photographing families in a new way. I’m taking max 20 weddings a year but looking for more around 15 now that I’m taking on family photos.
I also have some plans for photography education and I want to be very present for that portion of my business and I want to help other photographers and I really really want to paint!! I’m so excited to add some new things into my life and I hope you guys enjoy following along too.
